Background Following the takeover of the company by a private-equity investor and extensive reorganisation, the demands on SCM had increased, particularly with regard to process discipline and automation in scheduling and materials planning.
Remit and results

MSP specialist (SCM/project management) assumed responsibility as SCM project manager with the following priorities:

  • Implementation of an integrated, IT-assisted planning process in the company (revenue and volume planning, procurement planning)
  • Optimisation of the materials planning processes for merchandise using product segmentation, optimisation of master data, definition and settings for materials planning in SAP
  • Design and implementation of an ‘SCM cockpit’ for comprehensive performance monitoring in SCM
  • Creation of a road map to refine SCM following completion of the main projects.

Working closely with the company’s staff and senior management, the tasks were completed successfully and responsibility was handed over to a new, permanent SCM manager with an overlap of four weeks.
