Background The company wanted to make a permanent improvement to the management of its retail space with the main objective of optimising stock to become more consumer focused.
Remit and results

As the overall project manager with responsibility for implementation, the MSP manager appointed and managed the project team, focusing on the following :

  • Introduction of a category-management organisation (processes, organisational structure)
  • Design of a new utilisation mechanism revolving around the planning and management of retail space
  • Implementation in the IT system, thereby replacing conventional category management with the new retail space planning and management processes (incl. open-to-buy process). Established and introduced an integrated planning and control tool for retail space management
  • Reorganisation: Transformation of purchasing organisation into a category-management organisation using professional change management

After twelve months the project was successfully completed. The new processes were put into permanent use by the organisation. As a result, stock turnover was increased while inventories were reduced.
